OVERVIEW
Havelock North Wanderers AFC is committed to providing footballing opportunities for players of all abilities and aspirations through our ‘Wanderers Way’ Programme. From the moment a child turns two years old through to age 14, our Junior Programme is designed to offer the best possible environment for developing core technical skills.

As players grow, we provide structured opportunities to test their skills in real game situations, ensuring they gain valuable experience and progress in their football journey.  Above all, we believe it is essential to create a safe, fun, and engaging environment where children can flourish, build lifelong friendships, and develop a true love for the beautiful game.

Saturday Football
Saturday Morning Football kicks off for players in our 5th grade and above!

First Kicks
Players aged 5-6 years participate in the First Kicks Programme, which is run by Central Football and takes place at Frimley Park.  During these sessions, players and their teams engage in a series of fun, skill-based drills  designed to help them learn and refine their football abilities. Each session finishes with a game against another
team in their age group, allowing players to put their new skills into practice in a match setting.

First Kicks is a fantastic introduction to football, providing young players with the opportunity to develop new skills, build friendships, and learn the value of teamwork in a supportive and engaging environment.

Fun Football
Players aged 7-8 participate in the Fun Football Programme which is run by Central Football at Frimley Park.

Junior Football
Players aged 9-13 years participate in the Junior Football Competition, where teams compete against other clubs across Hawke’s Bay.

At this stage, there is a greater competitive element to matches. To ensure enjoyment and development for all players, teams are graded based on skill level. This approach helps maintain fair competition, allowing players to compete at the appropriate level while continuing to grow their skills and confidence on the field.
